Overview
Dog Years is a pet health app from Modane Management LLC. This policy explains what we collect, where it goes, and what you can do about it. We do not create accounts or ask for your name, email, or payment details.
Information We Collect
- Pet profile — name, breed, age, weight, health details, food, and routine you enter. This stays on your device and can sync through iCloud.
- Photos — profile photos, daily wellness photos, and food-label photos you choose to take or pick. They stay on your device. If you run a photo check, food scan, or AI Vet chat with a photo, that image is sent to OpenAI for a response. We do not keep a copy of those photos on our servers.
- Usage events — screens opened, onboarding steps, scans, photo checks, and paywall actions. Each event includes a random install ID, a session ID, an optional pet ID, and event details such as a product ID or step name. We do not collect your name, email, or Apple ID.
- Purchases — subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not store payment information.
How We Use Your Information
- Personalize food scores, photo checks, and longevity guidance for your dog
- Send questions, pet profile details, and photos you submit to OpenAI so AI Vet, photo checks, food scans, and daily tips can respond
- Look up dog food products in our catalog
- See how the app is used so we can fix problems and improve it
Third-Party Services
- OpenAI — AI Vet messages, daily photo checks, food-label scans, and generated tips. Pet details such as name, breed, age, and weight may be included so the response can be personalized. See openai.com/privacy.
- Supabase — food product lookups, and the usage events described above.
- Apple — App Store purchases, and optional iCloud sync of your pet profile.
Data Retention
Pet profiles, saved foods, and photos stay on your device, and in iCloud if sync is on. Deleting the app removes the local copy. Usage events are stored in our Supabase project so we can see how the app is used. They are not tied to your name or email. OpenAI processes a request long enough to return a response. We do not store those photos or chats on our servers.
Your Choices
- Photos are optional. You can skip the onboarding photo and skip later photo checks.
- You can delete local pet data in the app under Profile → Reset All Data.
- You can cancel a subscription in your Apple ID account settings.
Children's Privacy
Dog Years is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
